Angelo Pinto, Esq. is a nationally recognized civil rights attorney, educator, policy strategist and movement builder whose work connects law, public health, media and grassroots action.
For nearly two decades, Angelo has helped communities turn urgent demands into organized campaigns, stronger institutions and public policy. He co-created an Occupy Wall Street teach-in focused on the prison-industrial complex and later co-founded Justice League NYC, a task force of The Gathering for Justice. Justice League NYC became a major force during the movement that followed the death of Eric Garner.
Angelo went on to support campaigns connected to the NYPD 12, Free Meek, Justice for Breonna Taylor and the George Floyd uprisings. He also helped advance Raise the Age in New York, a campaign that changed the way young people were treated within the criminal justice system.
His work extends beyond individual campaigns. Through institution building, teaching, media and policy strategy, Angelo helps communities develop the knowledge, partnerships and structures required to sustain change.
The people closest to the problem must have the power to shape the solution.
